Futures fins buying guide

Futures is the most common fin system across our surfboard inventory — about 75% of new shortboards and fish boards use Futures fin boxes. If your shortboard or fish board is Futures, you need Futures fins for thrusters, quads, and twins.

How Futures fins work

Each fin has a single tab that slides into the fin box and locks with one screw. The single-tab connection gives a solid, direct feel — many surfers appreciate the firm board-to-fin feedback. Installation requires a fin key or small flat-head screwdriver.

Futures single fins — fit any standard US longboard box

Futures single fins fit standard US longboard fin boxes — the long center slot found on most traditional longboards and many midlengths. No adapter required. The fin slots in and is tightened with the standard screw. This gives longboard surfers another strong option for center fins regardless of what brand of box is in their board. Futures vs FCS II

Neither is objectively better — both have excellent fins for every setup. Futures require a screw tool; FCS II snap in without tools. The most important thing for shortboard fins is matching your fins to your board's boxes. Browse FCS and FCS II fins if your board uses that system.
