Surfboard wax and repair buying guide
Wax gives your feet grip. Repair kits keep your board waterproof after dings and cracks. Both are essential for anyone surfing regularly.
Surfboard wax — temperature guide for Los Angeles
Summer (June–September) — water 68–74°F, use warm or tropical wax. Fall (October–November) — water 64–70°F, use warm wax. Winter (December–February) — water 56–62°F, use cool water wax. Spring (March–May) — water 58–65°F, use cool to warm. Sex Wax and Sticky Bumps both make quality wax across all temperature ranges. Browse surfboard wax. Surfboard repair kits — seal every ding before surfing
Any open ding lets water into the foam. Water intrusion weakens the board over time and causes delamination. Seal open dings before your next session.
Sun-cure resin — easiest for small dings. Apply, shape, expose to sunlight, cured in minutes. Ding All makes sun-cure in both polyester and epoxy versions — use epoxy on epoxy boards, polyester on fiberglass boards.
Repair kits — for larger jobs needing fiberglass cloth reinforcement. Ding All Basic and Super kits cover epoxy and polyester construction.
Fiberglass cloth (4 oz) and Q-Cell filler are available separately for structural repairs.
When to use a professional
DIY sun-cure works for small surface dings. Cracked rails, broken fin boxes, buckles, delamination, or anything structural should go to a professional. Our surfboard repair service handles everything from minor ding work to major repairs.
