Surfboard Repair — Ding Repair Los Angeles
Expert surfboard ding repair in Los Angeles
A ding left unrepaired is a ding that gets worse. Water works into the foam through any break in the glass — pressure dings, cracked rails, snapped tails, delamination — and once the foam is waterlogged the repair becomes significantly more involved. Bring your board in early and we'll keep the fix simple.
Rider Shack provides professional surfboard ding repair for surfers across Los Angeles — Venice Beach, Marina del Rey, Santa Monica, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Playa del Rey, Culver City, and the South Bay including Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach.
What we repair
We handle the full range of surfboard repair work:
Dings and cracks — pressure dings, cracked rails, nose and tail damage, impact cracks from wipeouts and collisions in the lineup.
Delamination — separation between the glass and foam. Common on epoxy boards exposed to heat (left in a hot car, stored in direct sunlight). Catch it early and it's a straightforward fix.
Fin box repair and replacement — cracked or broken FCS, FCS II, and Futures fin boxes. Fin box replacement when damage is beyond repair.
Leash plug installation and repair — new leash plug installs on boards that don't have one, and replacement of damaged or pulled-out plugs.
Rail damage — rail gouges, cracks, and compression damage from board-to-board contact in crowded lineups.
Snapped boards — we assess all breaks. Some are repairable, some aren't — we'll be honest with you about which your board is.
Epoxy and polyurethane — we work on both PU fiberglass and epoxy boards. Epoxy repair requires different materials than PU — we use the right resin for the right board.
Turnaround time
Standard repair turnaround is approximately two weeks depending on workload and the complexity of the repair. Rush repair service is available for an additional fee. In select cases — minor dings with light current workload — same-day repair may be possible. Ask when you drop off.
Free quotes — drop off any day
We don't quote repairs over the phone. Bring the board in and our team will inspect it in person, assess the damage, and give you a free quote with a recommended repair approach. Drop off is available any day during business hours.

DIY repair supplies
If you have a small ding and want to fix it yourself, we stock solar cure resin, epoxy resin, sanding resin, fiberglass cloth, and ding repair kits in store. The key rule: always match the resin to the board — polyester resin on a PU board, epoxy resin on an epoxy board. Using polyester resin on an epoxy board will cause delamination. Ask us in store if you're not sure which your board is.
