Twin fins buying guide
Twin fins — two fins, no center — are the original performance setup for fish boards and retro shapes. Without a center fin the board planes faster and feels looser, with a flowing quality that is hard to replicate on a thruster. Twin fins excel where generating speed is the priority.
Twin vs thruster vs quad
Twins are the loosest — the tail can slide and project freely, which feels great when it works but needs active foot pressure to control. Quads sit between twins and thrusters — speed of a twin with more rear hold. Thrusters are the most controlled and predictable.
Which boards use twin fins?
Most common on fish surfboards — especially retro fish with swallow or fish tails. Some performance shortboards (Pyzel Tiger Twin, CI Free Scrubber). Some midlengths. Some twin fin boards accept a center trailer fin — check if your board has a trailer box.
Sizing
Twin fins use XL and Large sizing more than thrusters because they generate more lateral fin pressure. Our twin fin inventory skews XL and Large.
