Rider Shack offers surfboard and wetsuit rentals for surfers of all levels — from first-timers who want to try before they buy, to experienced surfers who want to test a different shape before committing to a purchase. Our rental program comes with free consultation included: tell us your experience level, your local break, and what you're trying to achieve, and we'll point you to the right board.
Try before you buy — rental credit toward a new board
Unlike most rental programs, your rental fee at Rider Shack doesn't disappear when you return the board. Purchase a new surfboard from Rider Shack within 14 days of your rental and receive up to $50 credit from your rental fee applied toward the new board. It's the most practical way to figure out what you actually want to ride before spending full price on it.
Rental pricing
Surfboard rentals:
1 day — $50 | 2 days — $75 | 3 days — $100 | 4 days — $125 | 5 days — $150 | 7 days — $175 | 10 days — $225
Wetsuit rentals:
$25 first day | $10 each additional day
What we rent
We maintain a rotating inventory of rental boards across all categories — soft tops, longboards, midlengths, fish, and shortboards. Our rental fleet is carefully maintained and regularly updated. Current inventory varies — call us at 310-821-7873 to confirm availability, or stop in and we'll match you to the right board from what we have available.
Wetsuits available in a range of sizes for men, women, and kids.
What you need to rent
To rent a board you'll need a valid ID or driver's license, a major credit or debit card, and to sign our rental terms and conditions form. If you'd like to save time, fill out our rental form online before you come in.

Not sure which board is right for your level or your local break? That's exactly what we're here for. Every rental includes a free in-store consultation — we'll talk through your experience level, where you're surfing, and what kind of surfing you're trying to do, and we'll set you up with a board that makes sense.
