Longboard leashes buying guide
A 9' or 10' leash is standard for longboard surfing. The extra length keeps up with the board's size and gives it room to float in a wipeout.
9' vs 10'
9' — standard for boards 8'6" to 9'6". The most common longboard leash in our inventory. 10' — for boards 10'0" and over, or any surfer wanting extra range. We also carry 10' coiled SUP leashes.
Ankle vs calf
Ankle — standard attachment. Works for all longboarding. Calf (knee leash) — attaches mid-calf, keeps the cord away from your feet during cross-stepping and nose-riding. Creatures of Leisure makes a 9' knee leash in our inventory.
Thickness
Standard (1/4") is right for most longboard use. Heavy (9/32") is worth considering for larger boards or bigger surf.
