A 7' or 8' leash is the right choice for midlengths, longer fish boards, and soft tops in the 7' to 8'6" range.
7' — for boards 6'6" to 7'6". The most versatile midlength leash. 8' — for boards 7'6" to 8'6". Gives the board more room in a heavy wipeout.
Standard (1/4") is appropriate for midlength boards, which are heavier than shortboards and create more leash pull in a wipeout.
