Shortboard leashes buying guide
A 6' leash is standard for shortboards — long enough to give the board room in a wipeout without snapping back at you, short enough to avoid drag.
Comp vs standard thickness
3/16" Comp — thinner and lighter. Less ankle bulk, less water drag. Good for everyday shortboarding in normal conditions. 1/4" Standard — slightly thicker and more durable. Good all-around choice for hard surfing or durability.

Also works for fish boards
A 6' leash works for most fish boards under 6'4". For fish 6'6" and longer, consider a 7' midlength leash.
