Shipping policy
We work hard to ship your orders quickly and safely from our Los Angeles surf shop. Most orders leave our warehouse within one business day, and surfboards are packaged with extra padding and protection to help them arrive safely. Below you’ll find details about shipping times, surfboard and oversized-item rules, pickup options, and our general returns overview.
How Long Will It Take to Get My Order?
- USPS shipments: Small packages that ship via USPS typically leave our warehouse within 24–48 hours. Transit time varies by service and destination.
- UPS shipments: Orders shipping via UPS usually leave the same business day Monday–Friday when placed before 2:00pm PST. Orders placed after 2:00pm or on weekends/holidays typically ship the next business day.
- Typical delivery window: Most orders arrive within 3–5 business days once shipped, depending on carrier and destination.
Free Shipping (USA)
Orders over $75 within the Continental USA qualify for free shipping.
Excludes: surfboards, surfboard bags, skateboards, and other oversized items.
Returned items that originally shipped free will have the actual outbound shipping cost deducted from the refund.
Surfboard & Oversized Shipping Rules
Surfboard shipping costs depend on the length, width, destination, and UPS size rules. Here’s a clear breakdown:

Boards under 5'11" and 21" wide:
These boards can usually ship via standard UPS Ground without an oversize surcharge. Typical shipping cost ranges from about $65–$120, depending on destination. Exact live rates are calculated and shown in the cart at checkout. -
Boards over 5'11" or wider than 21":
These are considered oversized by UPS and incur additional UPS oversize fees. Typical shipping cost (including oversize charges) ranges from about $150–$240, depending on board size and destination. All pricing is quoted live in your cart so you can see the exact cost before you check out. -
Boards over 8':
Boards longer than 8 feet exceed standard UPS size limits and cannot ship via regular UPS Ground. For these boards, we offer:- Free in-store pickup at Rider Shack in Los Angeles, or
- Airport cargo pickup via freight (typically around $200, depending on the route).
Free Central California Pickup
If you're located in California’s Central Coast region — including Santa Barbara, Pismo Beach, Morro Bay, Lompoc, or the surrounding areas — we offer free pickup on all orders, including surfboards.
We transfer boards up to a Central Coast pickup point on a weekly basis. This is a great option for oversized boards, especially 8'+ logs, that would normally incur large UPS oversize charges or can’t ship via standard UPS.
If you’re interested in Central Coast pickup, contact us and we’ll add your order to the next transfer and confirm pickup details.
Free In-Store Pickup (Los Angeles)
You’ll see a free “In-Store Pickup” option during checkout. Please allow us a few hours to prepare your order; we’ll notify you when it’s ready.

How Shipping Costs Are Calculated
Shipping rates are calculated and displayed live in your cart and at checkout based on:
- Package weight and dimensions
- Destination address
- Real-time UPS and USPS pricing
For unusual or oversized shipments (such as surfboards over 8') we may need to arrange a custom freight option. Just reach out and we’ll walk you through the best and most cost-effective solution.
