Sunglasses for surfing and the beach

Surfers and beachgoers face more UV exposure than almost any other outdoor activity — direct sun from above and reflected UV off the water from below. A good pair of polarized sunglasses protects your eyes, cuts glare off the water, and makes it easier to read waves from the shore. We carry Blenders and Suncloud — two brands that hit the sweet spot between quality, selection, and price.

Polarized vs non-polarized

Polarized lenses filter horizontally polarized light — the glare that bounces off flat surfaces like water, sand, and wet pavement. For beach and surf use, polarized is almost always the right choice. You'll see the water more clearly, reduce eye strain on long beach days, and experience less fatigue when scanning the lineup. Both Blenders and Suncloud carry polarized options throughout their ranges.

Blenders Eyewear

Blenders is a San Diego brand that built its following on bold colorways and strong value for the quality level. Where most premium sunglass brands charge significantly more for comparable optical quality, Blenders keeps prices accessible without cutting corners on lens protection.

Wide variety of shapes: Mesa, Canyon, Millenia X2, Meister X2, North Park, Sydney, H Series, M Class X2, L Series, Romeo, Shadow, Coastal X2, Eclipse X2, SciFi, Expose, Buttertron, Sender, Skyway, Onyx, Tate, Mave X2, Phoenix, Canyon X2, Grove, and A Series. Something for every face shape and style preference. Easy to own multiple pairs across different colorways without spending premium prices on each.

Suncloud

Suncloud is an outdoor brand focused on polarized optics at accessible prices. Polycarbonate polarized lenses, TR90 nylon frames — lightweight, impact resistant, and durable in salt air.

Men's shapes: Boone, Mayor, Rambler, Rambler Lite, A-Team, Quiver, Hundo, Voucher, Patrol, Sentry, Milestone, Leeway, Biff, Hull, Double Up, Respek, Metric, Topsail, Low Key, Flateline, Boundary, Sculpin, Payback, Cityscape, Aviator, Affect.

Women's shapes: Beverly, Marion, Sandy, Sashay, Dana, Allora, Barnes. Designed for smaller face proportions with women's-specific colorways.

How to choose the right frame

Round faces suit more angular frames. Longer faces suit wider, more horizontally proportioned frames. Larger faces should look at XL-proportioned options — Blenders Millenia X2, Canyon X2, Coastal X2, M Class X2. Come into the shop and try a few on.

Lens color guide

Gray — most neutral color rendering, best for bright sunny days. Brown and amber — enhance contrast and depth perception, good in variable light. Blue mirror — cut glare off the water, popular surf choice. Green — natural color rendering, versatile across most conditions.
