Carver surf skates at Rider Shack
Carver invented the surf skate in Venice Beach in 1996 — the same city Rider Shack calls home. Their C7 and CX truck systems remain the benchmark for replicating the feel of surfing on land. We carry a large selection of Carver completes including Channel Islands and Lost Surfboards collaboration shapes.
C7 — the original dual-axis truck
A traditional kingpin truck on a pivoting swing arm — two independent axes of motion that create the smooth lateral sway of a surfboard. Best for deep carving, maximum turning radius, and replicating a longboard or single-fin feeling.
CX — snappy and responsive
A precision reverse-kingpin single-axis truck. Fewer moving parts, lighter, more stable at speed. Snappier response that replicates a shortboard feeling. Better for parks and transition in addition to streets.
Collaboration shapes
Carver x Channel Islands — the CI Fish, CI Happy, CI Dumpster Diver, CI Mid, and CI Fishbeard are based on actual Channel Islands surfboard outlines. Carver x Lost — the Lost Ripper, Hydra, RNF Retro, Rad Ripper, Retro Tripper, and Party Platter are Lost surfboard shapes adapted for pavement. Riding the matching surf skate to your surfboard trains the same muscle memory on land.
C7 vs CX quick guide
C7 — deep carve, flowing turns, adjustable spring, replicates longboard feeling. CX — snappy response, lighter, skatepark capable, replicates shortboard feeling.
