Dogtown at Rider Shack
Dogtown is Venice Beach. The Zephyr Competition Team — the Z-Boys — rode the empty pools and drainage ditches of Dogtown in the 1970s and changed skateboarding forever. Jeff Ho, Skip Engblom, and Craig Stecyk built something in this neighborhood that became a global movement. Rider Shack sits in the same community that Dogtown called home. Carrying Dogtown is carrying the neighborhood.

Venice Beach and skateboarding
The Dogtown Z-Boys story is one of the most important chapters in both skateboarding and Venice Beach history. If you haven't seen it, Dogtown and Z-Boys (2001) and Lords of Dogtown (2005) are both worth watching. The legacy shows up on the walls, the pavement, and the culture of this neighborhood every day.
