O'Neill Epic buying guide
The Epic is O'Neill's most accessible wetsuit and, as O'Neill puts it, the best value in the industry. It uses 100% UltraFlex neoprene — the same high-end material spec across the entire suit — with a double seal neck closure and lumbar seamless design.
100% UltraFlex DS neoprene
The Epic uses UltraFlex DS neoprene on every panel — not just the flex zones. This is a meaningful spec for a value-priced wetsuit. The LSD (lumbar seamless design) eliminates the seam at the lower back that causes chafing on long sessions.
Back zip entry
The Epic uses back zip entry — the easiest wetsuit to get into and out of. A long zipper runs down the centre back with a leash for self-entry. This makes it particularly well suited to beginners, occasional surfers, and kids. The double seal neck closure prevents water flushing at the neck.
Epic vs Heat
The Heat uses TechnoButter 3 neoprene — 20% lighter and 30% less water absorption than the Epic's UltraFlex. The Heat also has TB3 Firewall in the chest and back for added warmth. For surfers who surf regularly and want better technology, the Heat is a meaningful upgrade. For beginners, occasional surfers, and kids, the Epic is the right call.
