O'Neill Heat buying guide

The Heat is O'Neill's performance mid-range wetsuit — a significant step up from the Epic in neoprene technology while remaining accessible in price. TechnoButter 3 neoprene is 20% lighter and absorbs 30% less water than any other premium neoprene, including UltraFlex.

TechnoButter 3 and TB3 Firewall

TechnoButter 3 is the same neoprene used in the Hyperfreak — O'Neill's most advanced flexible neoprene before TB4. In the Heat it's used throughout the suit for an overall lighter, dryer, more flexible experience than the Epic. TB3 Firewall in the chest and back adds a thermal layer for extra warmth in those critical body-heat areas.

Back zip and Fluid Seam

The Heat uses back zip entry with Fluid Seam construction. The Fluid Seam Weld exterior provides a watertight seal without the stiffness of liquid tape. A redesigned 3Q-length zipper panel is easier to get in and out of than older O'Neill back zip systems.

Heat booties

We also carry O'Neill Heat 3mm and 5mm round-toe booties. Same neoprene quality in bootie form for cold winter sessions. Browse surfing booties.

Heat vs Epic vs Hyperfreak

Epic — 100% UltraFlex, back zip, best value. Heat — TechnoButter 3 (lighter, dryer), TB3 Firewall warmth, back zip. Hyperfreak — TechnoButter 3 and TB3X, chest zip or zip-free, maximum performance. The Heat is the right middle ground for surfers who want better technology than the Epic but don't need the Hyperfreak's performance focus.
