Salt Gypsy surfboards buying guide
Salt Gypsy is a women-founded surf brand that makes boards designed to be surfed, not just looked at. Their shapes are built around real-world performance in everyday surf conditions — high volume, forgiving outlines, and fin setups that reward trim and flow over aggressive turning. We carry two models: the Mid Tide midlength and the Dusty longboard.
The Mid Tide — midlength in 7'0", 7'4", and 7'8"
The Mid Tide is a versatile midlength that paddles well and catches waves early without requiring a full longboard. It runs a 2+1 fin setup — a single center fin with two FCS II side bites — which gives you the glide and trim of a single fin with added hold when you need to drive off the tail. Available in 7'0", 7'4", and 7'8" in PU (standard fiberglass) and epoxy soft deck construction. The Cynthia Rowley collaboration colorways bring a unique design perspective to the lineup — same shape, distinctive finish.
The Dusty — longboard in 8'0", 8'6", and 9'0"
The Dusty is a classic longboard shape built for cross-stepping, nose-riding, and long drawn-out lines. Like the Mid Tide it runs a 2+1 FCS II setup. Available in 8'6" and 9'0" in PU and epoxy soft deck, with Cynthia Rowley collaboration models in the 9'0" size.
PU vs epoxy soft deck construction
Salt Gypsy boards come in two constructions. PU (polyurethane fiberglass) is the traditional construction — responsive flex, classic surf feel, familiar weight. Epoxy soft deck is a hard epoxy board with a soft foam deck and rails laid over the top — stronger and more durable than PU, lighter than traditional longboard glass, with a forgiving surface that is comfortable for longer sessions. Both constructions use the same shapes and fin setups.
Cynthia Rowley collaboration
The Cynthia Rowley x Salt Gypsy models are collaboration colorways within the Mid Tide and Dusty lines — same great shapes with distinctive fashion-influenced finishes. Available in the Mid Tide 7'0" and 7'8" and the Dusty 9'0".
Fins for Salt Gypsy boards
Salt Gypsy boards use FCS II fin boxes for the side bites. The center single fin uses a standard US longboard box on most models. FCS II single fins and Futures single fins both fit the standard US center box. Browsesingle finsandside bite fins. ReadSurfboard Fins Explainedfor guidance on single fin sizing.
