Firewire Seaside buying guide
The Seaside is Rob Machado's quad fish — wide, flat-rockered, and built to generate speed in small to medium surf. With a dedicated quad fin setup, it has more speed and drive than a thruster in weak conditions and more projection down the line in hollow surf. One of the best-selling Firewire shapes for good reason.
Shape and performance
The Seaside's wide outline and flat rocker mean it planes early, finds speed quickly, and carries momentum through flat sections where other boards stall. The quad setup removes center fin drag and adds rear fin hold — more speed than a twin fin with more control than a pure twin. This is a small-wave weapon that also works surprisingly well in overhead surf if you let it run.
Seaside vs Seaside and Beyond
TheSeaside and Beyondis a longer version of the Seaside (6'8"–7'6") designed as a midlength fish. It has the same quad concept in a bigger package for more paddle power and glide. The standard Seaside (5'2"–5'11") is the shorter shortboard-length fish. Choose the Seaside if you want a shortboard-length quad fish. Choose the Seaside and Beyond for a midlength quad fish with more paddle power.
