Used Midlengths buying guide
Used Midlengths are a smart way to get on a quality board without paying new prices. Rider Shack hand-inspects all used boards before they hit the rack — we check construction, prior repairs, pressure dents, fin boxes, rails, tail, and nose.
What to check before buying
Look at fin box condition first — cracks, wobble, or misalignment are expensive to fix. Check for open dings, soft spots, and signs of water damage (extra weight, brown or yellow foam). Buckle marks across the deck are a dealbreaker — avoid boards with a fold crease. Minor pressure dents are normal. Clean professional repairs are generally fine. Read How to Buy a Used Surfboard for the full checklist.
Fins for this board type
Used midlengths come in thruster, 2+1 single fin, twin fin, and 5-fin configurations. Check the board's fin box type — performance midlengths typically use FCS II or Futures; traditional shapes may use a US box for the center single fin. Browse thruster fins, single fins, side bite fins, twin fins.
Leash and accessories
A 7' leash fits most midlengths well. Browse midlength leashes. For a bag, see fish and mid bags. For wax and repair supplies, see wax and repair.
