Used Longboards buying guide
Used Longboards are a smart way to get on a quality board without paying new prices. Rider Shack hand-inspects all used boards before they hit the rack — we check construction, prior repairs, pressure dents, fin boxes, rails, tail, and nose.
What to check before buying
Look at fin box condition first — cracks, wobble, or misalignment are expensive to fix. Check for open dings, soft spots, and signs of water damage (extra weight, brown or yellow foam). Buckle marks across the deck are a dealbreaker — avoid boards with a fold crease. Minor pressure dents are normal. Clean professional repairs are generally fine. Fins for this board type
Most used longboards run a single fin or 2+1 setup. Single fins typically use a US longboard box — a long center slot that accepts fins from True Ames, Flying Diamonds, Captain Fin, Rainbow Fin Co, FCS II, and Futures.
